The International Organization for Standardization is developing a new set of standards on environmental management called the ISO 14000 series. The series will include standards such as labeling, life cycle assessment and auditing. The ISO 14001 standard on Environmental Management Systems, for example, will ensure that companies competently manage environmental issues and are in compliance with environmental legislation.
