Standard, now partnered with its new sister company in Tempe, Ariz., Landmark Aviation, was recently acquired by Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), a newly formed entity that intends to build a global aerospace cluster with $15 billion in capital from its mostly Dubai-based investors. Standard and Landmark were the first acquisitions of the emerging powerhouse. Earlier in the week, DAE announced its intentions to buy 200 brand-new commercial jets -- 100 each from Airbus and Boeing -- instantly turning it into one of the largest commercial jet leasing companies in the world.
