So, what is biodiesel, exactly? In a nutshell, it's a natural and renewable fuel alternative for diesel engines and is made by converting oils and fats into chemicals in a chemical process called transesterification. Catalysts such as methanol or ethanol are also used. Different fats and vegetable oils produce somewhat different biodiesel fuels, but they all do essentially the same thing.
