While some buildings on the 650-acre plant site house support companies that supply steel to the stamping plant or transmissions to the assembly line, Kia's own manufacturing and assembly plant consists of four huge structures -- the stamping plant, the welding plant, the paint plant and the final assembly plant. Let's take a look inside.
Inner and outer structures are welded together by robots, accompanied by the occasional shower of sparks, until the sub-assemblies all come together in a master jig that laser-aligns the panels before welding them together. The body moves through a glass-walled inspection area where the 2,100 welds are checked and the occasional sharp point ground off. Then it's overhead by conveyor to the paint shop.

In those days, real people actually illustrated the company's advertisements and [Roger Lusty] learned from many of the finest artists in the land. "Some of the guys had been around for a lot of years," Lusty fondly recalled of his first artistic mentors. "They could literally paint anything.
Whether it's a chopped '32 Ford Deuce, a Hemi Cuda, a '57 Chevy Pick-up, or a VW Beetle, I always put the same effort and enthusiasm into every painting," offered Lusty. "Every car has distinct features and I love them all."
"The best part is a client's reaction to the paintings," added Lusty. "It has ranged from tears to absolute disbelief -- I'm usually just as excited as they are when they pick the painting up."

[Joel Reynold]'s got trouble at work too. A freak production-line mishap results in a painful accident for the factory's self-professed "fastest sorter" Step (Clifton Collins Jr.), who loses a testicle.
Poor, hormone-addled Joel also falls under Cindy's spell. Taking bad advice (combined with dubious drug dispensation) from his bartender buddy Dean (Ben Affleck), Joel signs onto a plan to hire a dim-witted gigolo (Dustin Milligan) to seduce [Susie], so he can pursue Cindy with a clear conscience.
A blue-collar companion piece to the white-collar comedy Office Space, Extract likewise elicits laughs from the familiar. As any white-collar wage slave giggled at the unctuous management style of Gary Cole's Bill Lumbergh in Office Space, so too would you laugh at the assembly-line harridan (B...
