There was almost a fight among the girls over who would get to serve him," Grubert says. (Pardon me, but shouldn't the boss get first dibs on Hollywood heartthrobs?) "No kidding, huh? But get this: I had [Keanu Reeves]'s waitress put the cutlery he used into a plastic baggie. It's gone now but I kept it in my office for the longest time. "Twenty-five yummmy years." That's the slogan on the walls, in the windows and on the backs of employees nowadays at Baked Expectations, 161 Osborne St. Except bad news, sweet tooths: Grubert has no plans to toast her silver anniversary by reintroducing long-missed treats like chocolate black-out. All the same, she is considering a gallery-type display of the always-clever T-shirts ("Love You to Pieces," "Bite Me") staff have sported since "Baked" beg...
With all due respect to Mr. [Conrad Black]," the domestic diva "has a higher profile than any of the defendants in this case," yet was unable to fight the First Amendment right to freedom of the press and public access to information, the Chicago Tribune said in a court filing late Friday. "This case is receiving substantial international media attention," Black said in his court papers. "The gallery is filled with reporters and two overflow rooms have been set aside. "The mere fact that the suit has been subject to intense media coverage is not... sufficient to justify closure," [Martha Stewart] was told in a judgment in 2004. "To hold otherwise would render the First Amendment right of access meaningless."

What? Do you think that if I had already had an agent, then I wouldn't have been allowed to chug that beer?" [Jon Montgomery] said with a laugh Sunday night before taking in the Canada-United States hockey game. "I don't know what might transpire from here on out, but maybe that's something I should look into. "We were talking about that this morning," said his father, Eldon. "I think he's worked very, very hard and maybe it's time... Look, he didn't work this past summer at all and money's not that plentiful. He has funding and some sponsors, but maybe it's time for a little payback for him. "It's been goofy crazy, that's for sure. It's been absolutely surreal, but it's all good. It's not anything I think I could grow accustomed to, but I'll plow through with a smile on my face.

If you are among the 6,000 viewers so far who've walked through the Winnipeg Art Gallery's current [Andy Warhol] exhibition, Larger Than Life, you may have been struck by the big grey silkscreen portrait of Canada's most beloved corporate criminal. Warhol had seen [Conrad Black]'s picture in a magazine. The Canadian would have been in the early stages of his own tycoonery, recently having wrested control of the gazillion-dollar holding company Argus from founder Bud McDougald's credulous widow. They've also got a 1963 silver Liz on linen, one of a series of 13. On Nov. 13 in New York, Christie's is auctioning a 1963 turquoise Liz from that same series. The presale estimate, just published in the sale catalogue, is $25-$35 million.
