A Michigan firm is putting some of Calgary Flames' forward Darren McCarty's prized possessions on the auction block.
A date for a second auction, which will include many items from McCarty's memorabilia collection, hasn't been set.
Obviously his Cup memorabilia are the big things," said [Curtis Kaye]. "He's got his personal Cup replicas, his Cup rings, a whole lot of things that are irreplaceable.

Canadians want to buy a Canadian product but I'm not allowed to sell it to them," [Ron Thompson] said. "I had more than 35 calls from Canadians last week and another 10 calls this week," adding he had to turn those inquiries away.
Thompson said Bombardier's standard policy had been for its dealers to impose a 7.5 per cent surcharge on all sales to Canadians. Then two weeks ago, Bombardier altered the surcharge fee to 7.5 per cent or $1,250, whichever is greater. Last week, Bombardier imposed a $3,000 surcharge on sales. And earlier this week, Thompson said a Bombardier representative told him not to sell to Canadians at all.
"I'm paying $5,000 a month interest on the inventory I have but I'm not allowed to sell to Canadians who are trying to save some money," Thompson said. "It's just ...

With a price tag of $18,995, [Greg McTavish], who previously owned a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle, saw the Spyder as a hybrid that fulfilled all his open road requirements. "I really enjoyed riding my Harley," he said. "But I found that bringing along luggage wasn't an option and I really wasn't ready for a fully decked-out touring bike yet.
It's very similar to riding a quad," McTavish said. "I got the hang of it almost instantly.
[Boris Minkevich] isn't the only one who has followed McTavish on the Spyder. "Just the other day I pulled into my driveway and there were two cars behind me," he said with a grin. "It takes me two hours to run a quick errand, everywhere I go people want to talk about it."

Five years later the dealership moved to the corner of Hwy 3 and the Perimeter at Oak Bluff. By 1987 Enns Brothers had opened a second branch in Morris, in 1992 a third in Portage la Prairie, and in 1998 the company assumed responsibility for the Interlake area. June 2004 marked the opening of a brand-new 8,000 square foot building in Arborg. In February 2008, Enns Brothers merged its four locations with Countryside Equipment, which had locations in Brandon and Neepawa. This merger made Enns Brothers into one of the largest independently owned John Deere Agricultural dealerships in Canada. Further expansion into the Powersports world was a logical move. In total there are seven stores in Manitoba, two in Winnipeg, and locations in Morris, Portage la Prairie, Brandon, Arborg and Neepawa.

He said he'll tell them "their prices as soon as possible should reflect the increase purchasing power of the Canadian dollar vis-à-vis the U.S. dollar.
We're not going to interfere in the market," [Jim Flaherty] said. "But I can have discussions with them and I do intend to on Tuesday -- talk with some of the auto representatives, certainly about their pricing practices.
"They have to get their prices in line, either by allowing purchases in the U.S. by Canadians, but preferably by getting their Canadian prices into line so that Canadians can shop at home."
