If you're a fan of network programming, maybe seeing another repeat of Pushing Daisies or Cold Case will inspire you to finish that level of Ratchet and Clank Future instead," suggests Joseph Olin, president of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences.
"There's a much better relationship between game developers and publishers than there appears to be in terms of all the polemics between the writers, producers and studios," says Olin.
[Dan Connors] says no union scribes have composed quips for Sam & Max, Telltale's popular episodic comedy-adventure game series based on the comic book of the same name. Instead, everyone who's contributed to Sam & Max has worked in another capacity on the game, like in programming or designing.

Market expansion is a very important strategic option in the developing economies. Literature on marketing to the "bottom of the pyramid" and the "blue ocean" strategy has brought to the fore the issue of direct involvement of manufacturers or corporations in expanding markets. Though the "bottom of the pyramid" and the "blue ocean" strategy frameworks are important references for development of conceptual framework for market expansion, neither of these can be considered as a complete conceptualization in itself. The authors synthesize extant knowledge on the subject and provide a conceptual framework by looking into fundamental issues such as what is a market, what is market expansion, and what factors affect market expansion.
Unlike in case of the "blue ocean" strategy framework, th...

The entrepreneur is regarded as crucial for a firm's international strategies and the central factor explaining a firm's international behaviour (Andersson, 2000). Research into the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has emphasized the role of entrepreneur-related elements that impact export performance, such as: strategy (Baird, Lyles, & Orris, 1994; Tyebjee, 1994); attitudes (Bijmolt & Zwart, 1994; Ogbuehi & Longfellow, 1994); commitment (Dhanaraj & Beamish, 2003); perceptions (Jaffe & Pasternak, 1994); orientations (Dichtl et al., 1984); the international experience of managers (Qian, 2002; Reuber & Fischer, 1997); as well as more integrative human capital elements (Andersson, 2000; Bilkey & Tesar, 1977; Cavusgil, 1993; Herrm...

In this article, using data from a survey of 218 consumers across two samples, we propose a measurement scale for word of mouth (e-WOM scale) in the context of electronic service. A battery of statistical tests reveals that the WOM construct encompasses four dimensions: WOM intensity, positive valence WOM, negative valence WOM, and WOM content. Our proposed e-WOM scale can be used as a strategic tool for business managers aiming to improve their word-of-mouth marketing strategies.

Marketing research is increasingly interested in people's perception- and affect-laden, identity-involving relationships to companies and their brands. However, little attention has been paid to (1) how, specifically, such identity relationships to companies will stem from identity relationships to various other things that are relevant to people and associated with companies. Besides, (2) the influences of such relationships to companies on various business-relevant behaviors of the individuals, let alone organizations which the individuals may represent, have not been examined in a comprehensive way.
This article addresses the identified research gaps by presenting an integrative framework that introduces a special kind of identity relationship, termed affective self-affinity (ASA). ...

The use of consultants raises a host of potential conflict problems. For instance, some consulting firms have hidden links to suppliers, and will attempt to use their influence over sourcing, to direct contracts to them. Subtle steering may involve raising the spectres of "incompatibility" with existing equipment or software, the possibility of increasing "training costs" if new technologies are adopted, and sundry other "risks" associated with a competitors products. "Linked" or "tied" consultants have also convinced public employees to sole source a contract to their affiliated supplier, so as to bypass any formal tender or RFP, by exaggerating the unique attributes of a particular supplier's products or services.
Resistance to new technology can also cause a hidden conflict of intere...
