This paper documents the performance differences between Wholly-Owned Subsidiaries (WOS) and Joint Ventures (JV) in electrical and electronics industry in Thailand for the period of 2000 to 2004. Unlike other studies, we analyse the performance differences using DuPont analysis. The impact of capital structure on the profitability of WOS and JV is further studied in this paper. We find that WOS have significantly higher sales growth, have more efficient asset management and carry higher debt ratios. On the other hand, JV are more efficient in cost control and thus have better performance in term of ROS. The federal government has decided to allow Canadian travellers to bring liquor, perfume and other liquids purchased at duty-free stores in their carry-on bags when they board airplanes, with some restrictions. The move will be a lifeline for Canada's duty-free industry, which has been crippled since last week, when the government declared all liquids banned from airplane cabins in the wake of an alleged U.K. terror plot. Beginning today, travellers in Canada will be allowed to carry small containers of liquids, gels or aerosols onto airplanes, provided each container doesn't exceed 90 millilitres and they can all fit comfortably in a resealable, clear plastic bag with a maximum capacity of one litre. Passengers are allowed one bag each. The 90-millilitre size is ideal for travel-size toiletries, but little else. The average size of a bottle of water, for instance, is 500 millilitres and a can of pop is 355 millilitres.
