  • Recent studies of publication patterns in accounting history portray a myopic and introspective discipline. Analyses reveal the production and dissemination of accounting history knowledge which focus predominantly on Anglo-American settings and the age of modernity. Limited opportunities exist for contributions from scholars working in languages other than English. Many of the practitioners of accounting history are also shown to be substantially disconnected from the wider community of historians. It is argued in the current paper that interdisciplinary history has the potential to enhance theoretical and methodological creativity and greater inclusivity in the accounting history academy. A practical requirement for this venture is the identification of points of connectedness between...

  • The relations between the United States and Pakistan (US-Pakistan relations) have a very tumultuous history, which is spread over nearly six decades. Owing to the diverse strategic and, sometimes, incompatible strategic interests, these relations have seen various engagements and estrangements. This paper aims at exploring the role played by the geostrategic and geopolitical factors in bringing US closer to Pakistan. It takes into account the cost and benefits of these relations for Pakistan and the United States. It also highlights the present warmth in relations between the United States and Pakistan in the perspective of geo-strategic and geopolitical factors. It also discusses the future prospects of these relations.

  • General social trends that promote individual human rights and racial equality may also increase the chances for social contact between groups. An example of the strength of these third-party influences is the early research on intergroup marriage (conducted primarily in the United States) that focused on interracial marriage as a proxy for acceptance of other groups (e.g., Merton, 1941 ; Gordon, 1964). More recent research, however, has shown that third parties strongly influence rates of interracial marriage, and several authors have shown that intermarriage continues to evoke an emotional response from some members of both white and minority communities (Bobo, 1983; Herring and Amissah, 1990; Bobo and Kluegel, 1993; Pettigrew, 1997; Johnson and Jacobson, 2005; Jacobson and Johnson,...
