His lawyer, Marvin Stern, said [Chad Kroeger] is not required to attend court in person until his trial starts. He said it was unlikely Kroeger would appear Sept. 15.
I want to make it very clear that Chad Kroeger does not condone drinking and driving," Stern told reporters outside the courtroom.
A criminal record could affect Kroeger's career, said Stern.

In places, Dark Horse is dirtier and looser than Nickelback's same ol'. A mean blues riff turns Burn It To The Ground into a slinky party-ready tune about, well, partying. Next Go Round's driving rhythms get a gritty, garagey texture, and album closer This Afternoon's bouncy, country-flavoured groove finds [Chad Kroeger] striking perhaps the most genuine vocal pitch we've heard from him.
What would have made Dark Horse better, though, is ditching the ham-handed sexual innuendo that saturates it. On lead-off track Something In Your Mouth, about a bar star "sucking on her thumb," Kroeger growls "it's so much cooler when you never pull it out / you're so much cuter with something in your mouth." Um, eww? And if you wrote a song called S.E.X., why oh why would you start it with the lyric "n...

If you want to be a shoegazer alternative rocker, selling not even 100,000 albums ... that's your PREROGATIVE! But don't bitch that you're not bigger, your jingle-jangle sound just isn't what most people WANT!
"We played a show before our CD release party and [Chad Kroeger] came up and was singing one of the songs. We popped our heads out and were like, 'Oh geez, Chad Kroeger!' A couple days after that, we got the call -- 'Hey, you want to tour?' Absolutely! We want to jump on the biggest rock tour of the summer and see where we can take this record," says vocalist Cam Melnyk, who grew up in Edmonton.
"They've been spoiling us this whole tour. We've been hanging out with the guys from Daughtry, Puddle of Mudd, Nickelback -- it's like going to school again. We're used to being the top...

Who doesn't love free merchandise? Nickelback continued their use of shooting free T-shirts in the crowd with [Frontman Chad Kroeger] explaining: "Know why that's fun for me? Because I'm a redneck that's why." He didn't actually do the shooting, getting opening band State of Shock to handle that duty while he performed a short instrumental metal medley with drummer Daniel Adair.
With five albums under their belt Nickelback have enough material to alter the mood of the audience at will switching between blasts of metal-edged rockers like Because of You, Woke Up This Morning and Side of a Bullet (dedicated to murdered Damageplan/Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell) to power ballads like Far Away, If Everyone Cared, Photograph and Savin' Me. Sure, some of their songs sound the same, but as ...

Australia's Powderfinger are one of those bands you kind of love to hate. They tread a fine line between being a crew that has the ability to kick out the jams with a passion that is generally lacking these days and trying really hard to sound impeccably intense. The missing ingredient of course is the danger factor. They appropriated a Neil Young song title for their name but only touch on his rough savoir-faire on a few cuts. When lead singer Bernard Fanning isn't sounding like he's singing directly to the proverbial girls down front he sounds magnificently charming. The tracks that really snap, like I Don't Remember and the fantastic Surviving are near ideal melodic pop with a splotch of distorted guitars and memorable bridges.

NICKELBACK lead singer Chad Kroeger didn't make a star turn as his impaired-driving charges came to provincial court in Surrey, B.C., Wednesday morning. His lawyer, Marvin Stern, entered a not-guilty plea on Kroeger's behalf.
JIMMY Page reckons the planned Led Zeppelin reunion show Dec. 10 in London may turn into a whole tour, says contactmusic.com: "It's a bit silly not to because there is such massive demand... It's a bit selfish to do just one show. If that's it, we probably shouldn't have taken the genie out of the bottle.
The painting Tres Personajes, by Rufino Tamayo, was discovered in 2003 by Elizabeth Gibson, who spotted it on her morning walk on Manhattan's Upper West Side. She said she took it home because "even though I didn't understand it, I knew it had power."

[Marvin Stern] also argued the Mountie stayed far too long at the scene with [Chad Kroeger] while arrangements were made to tow the Lamborghini and failed to obtain two further breath samples "as soon as practicable" as required by the Criminal Code.
It was obvious that Mr. [Chad Turton] was very concerned about his car," [Peder Gulbrandsen] said in his written judgment. "He was not being unreasonable. It was worth about $175,000 and was not a vehicle that most towing companies handle very often, if ever.

The album is on producer Brandon Friesen's C4 label with national distribution through Koch Records. The band's much-hyped 2002 deal with 604 Records, the label founded by Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, fizzled when they realized too many things were out of their control
It just didn't work out for either side. They have a lot of things changing with their infrastructure and we really wanted to get back to where we were in control of things," says [Michael Allen Zirk]. "We weren't happy with the way things were done. It's not their fault. It's part of being a small cog in a big machine.
Their time away hasn't hurt them when it comes to radio, he says. The album's first single, the midtempo Hurry Home, is getting airplay from rock stations across the country. Zirk and guitarists Phil Cholo...
