[Dave Mustaine] is one of metal's all-time greatest guitarists and he proved it on songs like Wake Up Dead, Hangar 18 and Holy Wars, which have more great riffs per song than most bands have on an entire album. He loves the riff, and every song features at least one solo, but songs like Eye of the Tornado and Skin O' My Teeth show off his melodic side. The Grammy-nominated Virginia metal band will hit Winnipeg in April in support of its sixth album, Wrath, which is slated for release on Feb. 24. And the headbanging heroes won't be tearing up the joint alone: also on the bill are Finnish power metal outfit Children of Bodom, As I Lay Dying, God Forbid, and (attention Bartley Kives) Municipal Waste.
Thrash veterans Megadeth will headline the fourth annual Gigantour, which also features Children of Bodom, High on Fire, In Flames and Job for a Cowboy. The tour was curated by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. Friday will be a busy day at the local branch of the North American ticket agent. That's the day tickets go on sale for the previously announced George Thorogood concert at the MTS Centre May 23 with Taj Mahal and the Blind Boys of Alabama. Tickets are $35.50 and $49.50. Colourful Australian children's entertainers The Wiggles (above) will shake and shimmy at the MTS Centre on April 11, the group announced on its website.
