In 2001. the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that police listed as a factor in 135 fatal crashes. For example, in 1999, the Florida Department of Highway and Safety for Motor Vehicles reported 28 accidents related to illegal , resulting in two fatalities and 27 injuries.

Anytime you fly an aircraft, drive a vehicle, or operate a piece of equipment I believe the main reason while completing a checklist, you are in a checklist cycle aviators and other checklist users fail to complete checklist items is that once their checklist cycle is broken, they fail to resume the checklist, they skip a step, or they only partially complete a step when they resume the checklist. A radio call, a required flight control input, an equipment malfunction, or an interaction with the crew chief, are all examples of events that can interrupt a pilot's checklist cycle.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 218, Motorcycle Helmets, on August 20, 1973.
