Visitors had an opportunity to tour the school, meet instructors and students and learn about studying at ACC for careers in wireless telecommunications, media production, web design, computer systems technician and civil technician. National Technology Week is held annually during the first week of November and offers a host of activities and resources to help students, teachers and parents explore technical careers, particularly the 14 different fields in which over 50,000 certified technicians and technologists contribute to Canada's workforce.

Collectively, they cover a wide assortment of topics related to human tactile and haptic sensing and its application, including sensation, perception, cognition and their underlying neural mechanisms, and how basic research on touch has been applied to the design of haptic interfaces for teleoperation and virtual environments. The papers also report on methods used by mechanical engineers and computer scientists to design haptic interfaces (hardware and software systems) for use in a wide range of teleoperation and virtual-environment application domains.

Traditional two-dimensional architectural plans show only aerial or planar information. Eventual spatial characteristics are at best implicit and can only be appreciated if plans are provided in a series. In contrast, computer-aided 3D visualization techniques allow spatial concepts to be conveyed in an easily understandable form. VR allows prospective users of a building to work interactively with proposed designs, by converting 3D building plans into a computer program that operates more or less in the same manner as a computer game. In this way, project information is presented in visual form rather than in text and drawings.
More sophisticated modeling permits the cost implications of changes to be assessed in advance. Proposals can be submitted to extreme working conditions. For in...
