This paper presents a case study of the co-operative design, development, and implementation of an XBRL-enabled interorganizational system (IOS) by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, the Reserve Bank of Australia (central bank), and the Australian Bureau of Statistics to revolutionize reporting by financial institutions in Australia. The findings illustrate that the complexity of data consumption patterns drove increased interdependence within the financial information supply chain requiring the co-operative development of context sensitive data exchanges and commodity-like IT infrastructures. The paper concludes that the co-operative model to IOS development exhibited here is likely to be more suited to the development of systems for financial information supply chains tha...

As well, "it could be that there's something special about this wine-only group that we really can't interpret very well," says Lauren Lissner, a professor of epidemiology in the department of public health and community medicine at University of Gothenburg. "The people who drink wine might have other characteristics that we simply can't measure. But the fact that it gets even stronger in the wine group could also be viewed as evidence that there is something in the wine.
The study isn't proof wine protects the brain from memory-robbing dementia, Lissner says. "And we're not saying that our results are anything to base recommendations on or that women should change their wine consumption patterns."
The dementia findings were based on 1,458 women who were aged 38 to 60 when the study be...

Consumer behaviour is changing. In a perverse analysis of human behaviour, we should hope oil prices stay high for enough time that consumers can fundamentally change their energy consumption patterns. Hence, it might be more beneficial for us all if oil prices stay where they are long enough for us to get serious about conservation, alternative energy sources, and changing our behaviour.

[Bob Rae] said it's "sensible" to link taxation to pollution and to encourage Canadians to change their energy-consumption patterns. But he added: "If you mean you're going to be hitting one particular industry, one particular product, one particular province, it's not a good idea.
Holding up a newspaper with a front-page story on [Michael Ignatieff]'s pitch for a more aggressive role for Canada's military in Afghanistan and other global trouble spots, [Joe Volpe] said, "I read it and I agreed with everything in it because my name is [Stephen Harper]."
That may mean you have to deploy your military in a place like Darfur, where it's tough, in places like Afghanistan, where it's tough," he said.

China is in the process of industrialization and there is a need for economic growth to meet the basic needs of the people and fight against poverty," said Su Wei, a member of the country's delegation at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali.
"I just wonder whether it's fair to ask developing countries like China to take on binding targets or mandatory targets," Su said. "I think there is much room for the United States to think whether it's possible to change (its) lifestyle and consumption patterns in order to contribute to the protection of the global climate.
Environment Minister John Baird, who is travelling to Bali, said earlier this week big emitters like China, India and the United States have to join any post-Kyoto pact on battling climate change, and any new agreement mus...

Drawing upon existing literature, this paper briefly discusses aspects of conspicuous consumption. Analysis of the construct has been done in the perspective of changing capitalist structure and dominating socio-philosophical ideologies, especially postmodernism. Effort has been made to extend the original concept and propose necessary refinement and integration of relevant concepts to enable a meaningful, holistic, and contemporary interpretation of the said construct. This paper examines different aspects of consumer behavior, helps to generate some important directions for future research in the field, and also discusses these issues in the context of the transitional socio-economic background of India.
