Obviously, there's a lot of work that still has to happen, in terms of opening up the west side of the airport for rail development," [Barry Rempel] told the Free Press. "The important piece is there have already been nibbles of interest in people looking to set up the kinds of business that would be appropriate for airport development because of the potential of that rail spur.
"There's always been the notion of an inter-modal container shipping port to be set up there. So, any talk like that, as far as I'm concerned, that's good news," [Barry Prentice] said.
"That's not a simple thing to negotiate," said [Bill Clement], chairman of the city's public works committee. "The city doesn't typically provide sewer and water services to enhance development in a municipality."

It takes the two of us 13 hours to build two cars," says production manager Al Marcoux, another St. Norbert boy who joined [Loewen] at [Peter Gould] on the day he bought the company. That may not sound like a long time but there is a catch. "That's just assembly time," adds Marcoux, "we also have to make the parts.
"It's a total collective deal," said Loewen. "There is only the three of us, so we all do our part." That was evident as Loewen climbed aboard the forklift and began loading completed cars into a shipping container while Marcoux and [Chris Ball] put the finishing touches on the last two cars in the order.
Loewen is quick to point out that owning his own company is infinitely different than his former life as a rock star but there are parallels. "I really don't see myself ...

Churchill's main competition is Thunder Bay, but the Russians see Churchill as a lot more efficient," said Manitoba Infrastructure Minister Ron Lemieux. "It's four days closer to Russia.
Challenges: Canada's two main railways make more money shipping grain to Thunder Bay, Vancouver or Prince Rupert (because of the longer distances). The country's major grain companies don't own handling facilities at Churchill, so their natural instinct is to steer grain to the ports where they can charge storage and handling fees. Some of Canada's grain customers are still hesitant to pick up grain from Churchill.. The [Stephen Harper] government's goal of ending the wheat board's monopoly could also spell trouble for the port, as the CWB is Churchill's biggest customer.
