The counting of those votes, however, may finally have put paid to her presidential ambitions. In North Carolina, Sen. [Hillary Clinton] lost by 14 percentage points to her rival for the Democratic party's nomination, Barack Obama. Sen. Obama was expected to win North Carolina handily, so her loss there by itself would not have been so damaging. But coupled with the unexpected squeaker that Indiana turned out to be -- Sen. Obama lost to Sen. Clinton by a only a few percentage points in a state where she needed to do well to stay alive -- it makes the road to White House almost impassable. It is doubtful now that Sen. Clinton can travel as far as the Democratic nominating convention.
