Our sympathy goes out to all of the Fraser family," Walsh said in an interview from his Regina home. "I guess two wrongs don't make a right.
"Military prosecutors consider two main issues when deciding whether to prosecute a charge at court martial: whether the evidence is sufficient to provide a reasonable prospect of conviction and whether the public interest requires a prosecution be pursued," [Holly MacDougall] said in the statement. Speaking afterward with reporters, [Omar Khadr]'s military lawyer, navy Lt.-Cmdr. Bill Kuebler, charged the change helped what he called the U.S. government's "manufactured" theory about what happened the day of Khadr's capture.
Omar is captured and detained, there is pressure from the Canadian government to know about the circumstances of his capture . . . there is a story generated to respond to those allegations," said Kuebler. "It turns out we now know that that story was false.
The hearing Thursday allowed the defence to formally call for a range of items from prosecutors, including the names of Khadr's other interrogators and all interrogation notes, correspondence between the Canadian and U.S. governments in the aftermath of Khadr's capture, and all of Khadr's statements.

Pakistan's Supreme Court ruled Friday that the state of emergency former president Pervez Musharraf imposed in 2007 was unconstitutional and declared invalid the appointments of judges he made during that period.
The 14-member bench that delivered the ruling was headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry, whose attempted ouster by Musharraf spurred much of the political turmoil that ultimately led to the strongman's downfall.
