In this paper we examine remittances as a currency of care from the perspective of migrants among the Indian diaspora in Australia. We focus particularly on seven "twice migrants" from Malaysia, Singapore, Kenya and the United Kingdom, and two cases where direct migration of the parental generation from India has led to multiple migration for their children as they moved from Australia to the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. These nine cases of multiple migration enable us to delve into the greater complexity and longer history of migration. The paper thus adds a historical dimension to literature on migration, analyzing changes across generations to remittances and the transnational family. Utilizing Balibar's work on racism and the production of different Others, the first chapter examines how the Black diasporic subject is continuously in a state of Other-from-within or Other-from-without in Western discourses, focussing on works by Hegel, Gobineau and Thomas Jefferson. Wright then examines the counterdiscourses of W.E.B. Du Bois, Leopold Senghor and Aimé Césaire. In her third chapter, [Michelle M. [Massad] was founded in 1953 by members of Habonim, a local Zionist youth group determined to foster a link between Diaspora Jewry and the fledgling Jewish State of Israel. At the time, [Leona Billinkoff] was the busy PTA chair of the Winnipeg Hebrew School. When the school's principal was hired as Massad's first program director, he asked Billinkoff if she would help him out at the camp for the summer. Billinkoff agreed. She came for the summer and stayed for 27 years. This meant a birthday celebration replete with shtick and songs and entertainment by the Camp Massad Alumni Choir. ALTHOUGH the ancient Jewish festival of Tu B'[Shevat Seder] predates deforestation, carbon footprints and acid rain by thousands of years, it has particular environmental relevance in 2010. Tu B' Shevat, the New Year of the Trees, is a minor Jewish holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Shevat, a date that usually falls between late January and mid February on the Gregorian calendar. Perhaps this is the time to look back with nostalgia at ND Lea's traffic study done for Waverley West in 2003. Gone are Smart Growth features like rapid transit and easy pedestrian access to a town centre that may or not be built. With all the attention on the Kenaston underpass (and the inevitable Waverley underpass) there are unnoticed, sobering projections in the ND Lea study. While 41 per cent of projected automobile trips out of Waverley West will be north on Waverley and Kenaston, 50 per cent of local automobile trips will be east on Bishop Grandin (38 per cent) and on Bison Drive (12 per cent).
