Counterfeiting has become an economic problem of international importance and has led to a variety of countermeasures based on lawful, political, administrative, or business techniques. In order to develop appropriate countermeasures, an understanding of the general phenomenon of counterfeiting as well as the specific reasons why people purchase counterfeit products seems expedient. The purpose of our study is to review a number of existing studies on the determinants of consumers' intention to purchase counterfeit products, and in doing so, provide an overview of the insights on this topic and identify potential gaps. This was a superbly programmed evening of Russian music in all its soulful, intense glory. Gwen Hoebig and Karl Stobbe, violins, Daniel Scholz, viola, Yuri Hooker, cello, and David Moroz, piano, with special guest soprano Valdine Anderson, took us on a sojourn through the steppes with music and poetry as our guides. Anderson handled the songs' demands with determination and poise, interpreting them with a special vocal dialect, coarser and more nasal. This impressively versatile performer is able to master anything she sings, as shown in the Three Songs for soprano and piano by Rachmaninoff, with pianist David Moroz. Her controlled power in Dissonance, the first rather non-melodic song, along with Moroz's fluid and expressive playing, made for a finely crafted and riveting presentation.
