  • At the end of the 20th century, Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools has appeared. Especially after our country's accession to WTO, the development of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools has remarkably developed with a larger size appearance over time. As a result, the educational levels constantly improve and educational models increasingly diversify. However, with the profound development of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools, various new questions emerge. The existing researches have broad discussed and proposed some constructive strategies and suggestions. Thus, those researches concentrate on the existing problems in Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools with specific regional observation and lack of general analysis.

  • The entrepreneur is regarded as crucial for a firm's international strategies and the central factor explaining a firm's international behaviour (Andersson, 2000). Research into the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has emphasized the role of entrepreneur-related elements that impact export performance, such as: strategy (Baird, Lyles, & Orris, 1994; Tyebjee, 1994); attitudes (Bijmolt & Zwart, 1994; Ogbuehi & Longfellow, 1994); commitment (Dhanaraj & Beamish, 2003); perceptions (Jaffe & Pasternak, 1994); orientations (Dichtl et al., 1984); the international experience of managers (Qian, 2002; Reuber & Fischer, 1997); as well as more integrative human capital elements (Andersson, 2000; Bilkey & Tesar, 1977; Cavusgil, 1993; Herrm...

  • Increased globalization of trade has led a growing number of firms to search beyond their traditional domestic markets and focus on high-growth export markets not only to expand but also to ensure their very survival. As a result, the role of exporting in firms' activity has become increasingly important. Recognition of this is reflected in the fact that the area of export performance has been gaining increased attention among academics and managers. Research into export performance dates back to the innovating work of Tookey (1964); since then there have been numerous studies published over the last four decades that have been concerned with the export performance of the firm. However, in spite of these research efforts, there is a lack of synthesis and agreement in the conceptualizati...

  • Is anyone else concerned about the latest announcement from Manitoba Agriculture Minister Rosann Wowchuk confirming that the province had donated $20,000 to Friends of the Canadian Wheat Board to assist with the costs of mounting a court challenge against the feds and their opening up the barley market to free trade? This $20,000 follows whatever "we" spent on the NDP version of a farmer plebiscite on the barley issue. I think the NDP would have you believe that it is concerned about losing jobs in Winnipeg. In actual fact, what it is really doing is once more supporting closed marketing against free trade, not unlike our closed health-care system. While it's true that the international supply/demand picture for barley has tightened, what is also true is that under the CWB monopoly, th...

  • Understanding of international competitiveness has primarily been pursued in terms of economic variables and market conditions. The roles of the government, the socio-cultural-political context in international business, and their effects on competitiveness have largely been ignored. This study involves an investigation into the circumstances of international competitiveness and how it is pursued by firms from different sugar producing and marketing nations. It employs a qualitative method of comparative analysis between Australia, Brazil, and the European Union. This paper highlights the variations of the theme of international competitiveness reflected through different strategies chosen by the three dominant sugar economies
