The dredging operation, still waiting approval from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, will see a channel between two sandy points deepened to allow easier passage of recreational motorboats from docks at Victoria Bay Estates to Lake Winnipeg, said Darrell Kupchik, operations manager of the North Red Waterways Maintenance Corporation.
Kupchik added the Quebec-built Amphibex machine has been used to dredge several times, including the canals in the Siglavik subdivision near Gimli.

In modern times, the appraiser needs to stop dredging up old, worn out tools and find out how buyers and sellers are truly interacting in the marketplace. The direct comparison model (DCM) is a good tool for reducing the variation in the selling prices of comparables. Since the marketplace talks in terms of words, not percentages or dollar adjustments, then the DCM should incorporate some method of expressing those words. Paired sales analysis cannot help because they do not exist. Appraisers need technology and the use of higher mathematics to solve these variability problems between sales. Quality point (QP) gets around this problem of adjustments by assigning an ordinal scale rating to differences between the comparables and the subject. In other words, it substitutes numbers for buy...

We learned to swim in the river jumping off the end of our dock. I can never forget the horrible sensation as my feet sank through the thick, deep layer of soft mud that covered the river's bottom. I can't imagine how thick is that layer of silt after so many years of no dredging.
I would object to the emphasis on the danger posed by these dogs. Malamutes, and the few Inuit dogs I've met, are trainable and can be socialized by average dog owners who take the time to familiarize themselves with the breed and dog training in general. Poorly socialized and trained dogs can be dangerous to people whether they're Yorkshire Terriers, Labrador Retrievers, or Rottweilers. I disagree with not keeping these dogs in a city. Howling is about the only reason given.

While admitting that the Coyotes have suffered "significant financial losses, and that needs to be fixed," [Jeff Shumway] dismissed the "rumours" about the Coyotes not meeting payroll and being under league supervision. "A lot of this is coming from out of the state, out of the country," he said. "Rumours are rumours.
It's not about a bunch of shivering Jets mourners dredging up the past and pining for the NHL's return. There's some of that, of course, but let's just say we're much more realistic about the NHL in these parts than probably anywhere on the planet.
So, really, good luck with our... sorry again, that team. It's not your fault. You tried. It's just that nobody ever stopped to think that, "Hmmm. Maybe a hockey team in a desert might not be the greatest idea ever." Maybe not...
