We learned to swim in the river jumping off the end of our dock. I can never forget the horrible sensation as my feet sank through the thick, deep layer of soft mud that covered the river's bottom. I can't imagine how thick is that layer of silt after so many years of no dredging. I would object to the emphasis on the danger posed by these dogs. Malamutes, and the few Inuit dogs I've met, are trainable and can be socialized by average dog owners who take the time to familiarize themselves with the breed and dog training in general. Poorly socialized and trained dogs can be dangerous to people whether they're Yorkshire Terriers, Labrador Retrievers, or Rottweilers. I disagree with not keeping these dogs in a city.
