Calgary's newfound affluence is not confined solely to those connected to the oil sector.Although housing prices have softened since the peak of summer '07, many who bought in before the boom have seen their home's value rise beyond their wildest expectations: a single family home costing just over $150,000 in 1997 is now worth, on average, more than $400,000.
