  • BMO has taken the [SaaS] concept a step further to include all facets of purchasing and payment - starting with a system for sourcing and selecting a goods or services provider, creating the contract from the sourcing documents and managing it throughout its life; electronically selecting goods and services from catalogues and issuing purchase orders; enabling suppliers to issue electronic invoices that match or are based on the purchase order; and creating payments based on electronic two-, three- or four-way matching of purchase orders and invoices. eSourcing. • This paper documents the performance differences between Wholly-Owned Subsidiaries (WOS) and Joint Ventures (JV) in electrical and electronics industry in Thailand for the period of 2000 to 2004. Unlike other studies, we analyse the performance differences using DuPont analysis. The impact of capital structure on the profitability of WOS and JV is further studied in this paper. We find that WOS have significantly higher sales growth, have more efficient asset management and carry higher debt ratios. On the other hand, JV are more efficient in cost control and thus have better performance in term of ROS. • Market expansion is a very important strategic option in the developing economies. Literature on marketing to the "bottom of the pyramid" and the "blue ocean" strategy has brought to the fore the issue of direct involvement of manufacturers or corporations in expanding markets. The authors synthesize extant knowledge on the subject and provide a conceptual framework by looking into fundamental issues such as what is a market, what is market expansion, and what factors affect market expansion. Unlike in case of the "blue ocean" strategy framework, th...

  • In this article, using data from a survey of 218 consumers across two samples, we propose a measurement scale for word of mouth (e-WOM scale) in the context of electronic service. A battery of statistical tests reveals that the WOM construct encompasses four dimensions: WOM intensity, positive valence WOM, negative valence WOM, and WOM content. Our proposed e-WOM scale can be used as a strategic tool for business managers aiming to improve their word-of-mouth marketing strategies.
