In addition to standard T8 lamps and electronic ballasts, a new generation of optimized, "high-efficiency" T8 lamps and electronic ballasts has recently been introduced. Available in a range of energy-saving models, including 30 watt, 25 watt, and 17 watt versions, these products can reduce total system wattage by over 45 percent relative to the use of older T12 fluorescent systems driven by magnetic ballasts, and by as much as 20-30 percent relative to the use of conventional T8 lamps and electronic ballasts. Low mercury versions are also available to ensure that the lamps do the utmost to promote environmental responsibility and sustainability.

China has experienced pressing energy shortages in recent years, and Beijing has intensified its efforts to secure China's energy supply through both increased domestic production and external expansion. In this paper, I first analyze China's global quest for energy by looking at the correlation between China's economic growth and its energy security concerns. I then examine the implications of China's "go-out" strategy through two sets of case studies. I argue that China's global search for energy is primarily driven by its rapid economic growth, out of insecurity rather than a master plan to dominate the world, and that China's energy security issues have multiple implications beyond simple economic concerns. Finally, I recommend a forward-looking engagement policy to be adapted by Ca...

Energy problem is one of the three global problems in new century. Being national base industry, the development of the electric power energy has played the great role in China economy developing. Now China electric power energy's structure composition presents as following the coal resources being main force, followed by pluralistic developments in which the clean energy becoming more and more important, since greatly developing the new electric energy must be the inevitable solution along the electric power sustainable development path. Utilizing the different developing mechanisms such as sustainable development, recycling economics, clean energy, the article starts from researching for the current situation of China electric energy requirements, and analyzes the structure compositio...

This paper presents a case study of the co-operative design, development, and implementation of an XBRL-enabled interorganizational system (IOS) by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, the Reserve Bank of Australia (central bank), and the Australian Bureau of Statistics to revolutionize reporting by financial institutions in Australia. The findings illustrate that the complexity of data consumption patterns drove increased interdependence within the financial information supply chain requiring the co-operative development of context sensitive data exchanges and commodity-like IT infrastructures. The paper concludes that the co-operative model to IOS development exhibited here is likely to be more suited to the development of systems for financial information supply chains tha...

Happiness is defined by Veenhoven (2008) as "the overall appreciation of one 's life-as-a-whole, in short, how much one likes the life one lives" (p. 2, itaUcs in original). Seligman's (2002) work on authentic happiness focuses on an enduring experience of happiness. Sustainable happiness is relevant to essentially every definition of happiness. As a demonstration, consider the momentary pleasure of drinking a cup of coffee. Benefits of attending to and being mindful of the experience have been discussed by Brown and Kasser (2005) and Kabat-Zinn (2005). Viewed through the lens of sustainable happiness, this momentary pleasure can be placed in a wider context. Individuals can attend to whether that cup of coffee is fair trade coffee, which means that workers in the coffee plantation have...
