This paper investigates the factors which influence the ability of resettled refugee parents to envisage their adolescents' futures and support them in setting and achieving goals. It is based on the findings of a study of 10 refugee families from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, two to three years after they had arrived in Melbourne, Australia. Analysis of the findings draws on Antonovsky's 'sense of coherence' framework to highlight the conditions which assist refugee parents to negotiate their social environment and develop realistic ambitions for their families' futures. PROF. Nazim Cicek hopes to convert wastewater and plant and crop residue into biofuels -- while reducing pollution.
Cicek, a professor of biosystems engineering at the University of Manitoba, is among six professors in the early stages of their research careers honoured Monday with annual Rh Awards.
In one, he is trying to identify specific micro-organisms which can convert waste fibre material such as paper, wood chips and straw into hydrogen fuel. "We would like to make a resource out of it," Cicek said.

Interestingly, neither paper focused on the considerable research literature that already exists on graduate education reform and hence I have briefly outlined some of this work here. After reading the papers in this Special Section, I found myself agreeing with much of what was said and disagreei...
