I'd always wanted a Victorian-style home, but couldn't find one because they all needed extensive renovations," says the owner, Mr. Carter, who did not want to be identified. "As a result, I decided to build my own. I also wanted to be environment-friendly, so I used cutting-edge technology like geothermal heating, maintenance-free materials and fluorescent lighting wherever possible. My wife designed it, and I built it together with Heartwork Homes' Larry Reimer.
"The games room is where we come to escape," Carter says. "For recreation, there's a pool table and several pinball games. If I want to work out, there's a home gym at the end of the room (with two huge windows that let in copious amounts of sunlight) where I can do cardio or weight train. We then located what I call the pro...

The next best team in the CFL, the 10-5 Saskatchewan Roughriders, who we also split games with this season, went from being the Cinderella story of the CFL season to the "Oh no, here we go again Roughriders," back to playing for their first home playoff game in eons after they lost three games in a row in September -- including a loss to Calgary, where the Stampeders put up 44 points against another one of the most celebrated defences in the CFL. The Riders were not so fortunate to escape the kind of DNA typing analysis that often accompanies losing streaks, but most of the Rider Nation has been successfully treated for the whiplash that comes with jumping on and off the bandwagon, and are now comfortably cruising along with the John Deere pointed in the right direction once again.

This paper is focused on the sufferings brought about to the two tramps by their aimless waiting for Godot, an unknown person who promises to come but fails to show up again and again. By the analysis of such elements as physical and mental pain, meaninglessness of waiting, the flow of time, human relations, life and death that the two tramps experience in their waiting that reflect human pain in the paper, the author tries to reveal the fact that existence seems to be something imposed upon us by an unknown force and we suffer as a result of it as there seems no apparent meaning. Thus, the conclusion is reached that, man's tragedy comes from a double source-an internal one arising from his finite nature and an external one in which that nature collides with the world.

For those not paying attention, [Jim Balsillie] has surfaced once again to express a desire to buy the struggling NHL team, this time in a letter penned recently to the Nashville Sports Authority. In the letter, spokesman Bo Roberts said Balsillie essentially apologized for underestimating the passion of the Nashville hockey community for their Preds. "He (Balsillie) is committed to Nashville as a viable hockey market, one in which he strongly desires to own a hockey team.
Further, Balsillie said he wouldn't count last year's attendance average against the lease that has an escape clause should the Preds not average 14,000 for two consecutive years. On the face of it, that means Balsillie is prepared to pay the $220 million, not ask for a dime of taxpayers' money, and guarantee the tea...

[...] 25 teams showed up for this weekend's games, and only two pulled out. Tony Lenchyshyn of Steinbach and Bob Welsh of Oak Bank, who both had sons playing in the tournament, said they struggled with the ethical question of whether the city needed a hockey tournament as it faced a flood.
...She agreed it was a chance to escape the ever-present subject of the flood. "Just kind ...

Perhaps that's only because the Moose are so loath to do anything the easy way. After all, they weren't so much as a hockey club in the post-season, but a high-wire act working without a net.
All playoff long, no matter how dire the situation, Moose head coach Scott Arniel would tell anyone who would listen that his Moose fought hard all season for home-ice advantage, finishing atop the division, so those are the spoils.
The parent Vancouver Canucks were out of the picture, no longer a potential drain on Moose resources. Other top seeds in the Western Conference were dispatched in earlier series. And never had Manitoba built a club with such depth, enough even to survive a first round where four key players -- Jannik Hansen, Brandon Reid, Nathan Smith and Yannick Tremblay -- were summon...
