I am a student at the University of Winnipeg who is currently looking into buying a laptop. Recently I phoned Apple Canada to inquire about the price of the MacBook Pro. They told me the student discount price was set at C$2,599. On their U.S. website, their student discount price is US$2,299. That is a $300 discount for American students. As a Canadian student, I find this ridiculous. I don't have pockets brimming with money. I am a student who works part-time while juggling a university load. I am disappointed in Apple's thinking and I will not be buying an Apple computer until I can happily pay the U.S. price with the Canadian dollar.
