It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that fans of Foo Fighters will be slavering mightily over this new 12-track recording. Former Nirvana-man Dave Grohl is still in the proverbial driver's seat, and along with his most cohesive band lineup has put together a fine album, even though he has claimed recently that he's concerned how fans will react to their "new" sound. But this new Foo is the same as the old Foo. Sure, many of the tracks feature acoustic guitar intros or low-wattage middle-song passages that could be called "heartfelt," but the sum total of any of these subtle tweaks to the bombastic, future-grunge that this band is known for shouldn't worry fans who are prepped to bang their heads viciously to this noise yet again.
