Greenhouse Gases Still Contentious Issue for Premiers

Doer said although U.S. President George W. Bush has been sluggish on climate change, both the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates have said they plan to move to some sort of a cap and trade system. The premiers did agree to a national energy efficiency program that will increase energy efficiency nationwide by 20 per cent by 2020 through a series of energy efficiency retrofitting programs and upgrades to building standards codes.
