THE University of Manitoba medical school celebrated its 125th convocation ceremonies Friday with the graduation of 45 women and 45 men as Manitoba's newest doctors.
The Dr. and Mrs. D.R. Campbell Outreach Award went to Dr. Patrick Choy, associate dean of research; the Peter D. Curry Chancellor's Award to H. David Graves; the title of president emeritus was bestowed on Emoke Szathmáry, who retired last summer as U of M president; and the presentation of professors emeritus to Fernando Guijon, obstetrics and gynaecology, and Godfrey Harding, medical microbiology.

Doucette is a Mi'kmaq with British heritage on his father's side. Because he spent much of his career working with Newfoundland veterans from the First World War and Second World War, Doucette dealt with the British government, since Newfoundland's veterans were not Canadian citizens until Korea.
