A Métis hunter doesn't need an MMF membership to have a harvester card, he added. [Allan Benoit] also suggested conservation is a core part of the harvester card system. Cardholders are asked to make a contribution to a conservation trust fund. They're also asked to fill out a survey which tracks hunting and required to abide by laws of the hunt, Benoit told judge John Combs. Those laws of the hunt include limits and seasons. About 990 cards had been issued as of last week, Benoit added after court. "There's Métis with their harvester cards who are out there harvesting despite the court case," he said.
