THE annual YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg Women of Distinction awards ceremony was held Wednesday at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. The awards celebrated 32 years of honouring women in our community who make a difference. This year boasted 58 nominees in nine categories including arts and culture, business and the professions, community voluntarism, creative communications, education and training, health and wellness, research and innovation, and young woman of distinction. Congratulations to all the nominees and this year's winners, including the Winnipeg Free Press's Margo Goodhand, the newspaper's first female editor.

A culture of inquiry is emerging from research-based information literacy instruction that takes place in school libraries. An ethnographic approach views the culture of inquiry through two lenses: (1) cultural anthropology and an emerging theory of evidence-based information literacy instruction, and (2) Tylor's anthropological definition of culture which serves as a framework to examine the knowledge, beliefs, art, morals, law, and customs of instruction. Despite general acceptance of clinical psychology as a broadly based health-care discipline, many graduate programs in clinical psychology have been slow to change from their continued primary focus on mental health education and training.
