Napolitano's brief interview with the CBC this week was jaw-dropping confirmation we're dealing with an irrational senior U.S. official who can't differentiate between a secure border linking the world's largest trading partners and one that's a giant sucking sound for jobs going south and what has been described as an 'invasion' of desperate Mexicans illegally sneaking north. When friends on an annual golf getaway crossed at the 1,000 Islands, we joined a bunch of others in getting a major ...

Rushdie Sees Literature Capturing Insanity of Times
"How stupid of me," he responded. "I knew that. Maybe it is different here." He told an amusing anecdote about rock band U2 lead singer Bono and even made several quips about his "little dispute" with Iran's late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. "Let me point out that one of us is dead," he said. "You know that little thing they say about the pen being mightier than the sword. You don't mess with novelists."

Observers Dismiss Whitmore Insanity Defence

She said Whitmore belongs in a jail cell, not a hospital bed. "I don't know where he's coming from," the lawyer said, asking not to be quoted by name. "To try that defence, you've got to line up a psychiatrist who will say he (the accused) is not criminally responsible." "In the United States, pedophil...

Stop the Parking-Ban Insanity Streamlined Snow Clearing Would Cut Number of Tickets
"We gained some good information on using it this past plow," [Bruce McPhail] said. "Should we have another plow this winter, we can look for next winter for actually putting a web-based map out." "I myself had given up any hope of seeing a snowplow even drive past our street this year," said Whyte Ridge resident Don Bissett, who received a parking ticket the first night of the ban. "Hence my complacency about ever having to think about considering moving my car off a non-snow route residenti...
