Despite this complaint, one of the strengths of the book is that [John C. Malone, PhD] makes a serious effort to dispel misconceptions about founding figures in psychology, such as Wundt, by detailing the sort of empirical work that made his psychology laboratories world-famous and by distinguishing him from earlier introspectionist psychologists who Wundt so seriously criticised. The author sets other founding figures, such as Freud, in the context in which they evolved their ideas, for example, documenting Freud's intellectual development from neurology through hypnosis (influenced by the work of Charcot) to his own ideas about psychoanalysis as an effective way to treat clinical cases of hysteria. Other well-known names, such as William James, are not so lucky, when aspects of their ...

[Mark Leier] emphasizes [MICHAEL Bakunin]'s role as theorist, and meticulously traces the evolution of his thought. It is, however, Bakunin's life that is really interesting.
Unlike his great rival, Karl Marx, Bakunin actively participated in popular revolts. Bakunin would gravitate toward wherever revolution was brewing in Europe.
Leier also conveys some sense of Bakunin's personality, although he places much more emphasis on Bakunin's intellectual development. Bakunin was gregarious, irresponsible with money, frequently in debt and generous.

Somewhere Else, then, is a bildungsroman, a novel of a young person's intellectual and emotional development. Only, [Jess Klassen] is already pretty much developed when we meet her. At 16 she already has a favourite Di Brandt poem, for Pete's sake.
The story might have benefited from scenes depicting Jess's awakening to her sexuality and her doubts about her strict religious upbringing, as well as a more nuanced take on her parents and their values. Consider how [Miriam Toews] depicted both the "kindness" of Mennonite life and the stifling "complications.
[Jan Guenther Braun] is at her strongest when she has Jess looking at her family and culture with love as well as pain, as in this pithy sketch of the essentials of Mennonite culture: "a detailed map of guilt and longing, a refined pa...

Recognizing that Manitoba's competitiveness in a global marketplace was dependent on continuing product development and process improvements, the University of Manitoba undertook to offer a new certificate program called the Intellectual Property and Technology Commercialization Management certificate (IPTCM).
Just ask Blake Podiama, President and CEO of Virtuistix Inc., a Manitoba start-up company involved in the development of smart medical devices that improve patient safety and quality of care. Podiama found that the IPTCM program provided him with a broader understanding of how to prepare and deal with the technology commercialization process and pathway, the science technology interface, raising of capital and the management, protection and leveraging of his intellectual property...
