SINCE hitting the picket lines, Hollywood screenwriters have used a variety of blogs and websites to keep themselves in the public eye. One of the most interesting blogs to emerge during the extended fight between the writers (represented by the Writers Guild of America East and the Writers Guild of America West) and Hollywood producers (represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) is called Why We Write. With submissions from writers from TV shows and movies including Prison Break, Groundhog Day and Jeopardy, the site is a fascinating look at some of the reasons why these scribes are in Hollywood pursuing their dreams.

CONSIDERING Gregory Hoblit's new film, Untraceable, is about a unrelenting serial killer who's using a viral website to broadcast his killings, it's surprising there isn't an all-out multimedia promotional campaign to take advantage of the movie's plot. Set to hit the theatres on Jan. 28, Untraceable may not have a bunch of big-budget viral websites, but it's an interesting premise and hopefully it will translate to the big screen.
Yeah, I've been offered cookware lines, some really gruesome reality shows that would have made me boatloads of money. The usual endorsements. I don't know. Maybe it goes back to the heroin thing," [Anthony Bourdain] explains to The Onion's Sean O'Neal in a lengthy interview published last week.

In a small saucepan, heat butter and garlic over medium-low heat for 1 to 2 minutes; do not let garlic brown. Add milk and heat until piping hot. Beat garlic mixture into potatoes along with enough buttermilk or sour cream to make a smooth puree. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper or nutmeg to taste.
* Variation: Roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Beat in a whole bulb of roasted garlic (instead of fresh garlic) in the above recipe. It may seem like a lot, but once roasted, garlic loses its harsh taste and becomes very mild and buttery. Serves 6.
Halve the lemon, pop it inside the chicken, and truss the chicken. Increase the heat under the casserole, and brown the chicken on all sides. Put the bacon back into the casserole along with the garlic cloves. Pour in the stock and wine,...

The notion of diversity management (DM) has in recent years spread out from its Anglo-American origins. However, few studies have theorized how alternate discourses established in particular societal contexts can challenge penetration of the organizational agenda by DM discourse. Based on a study of corporate websites, we offer a description of DM discourse in Finnish companies. We show how gender equality as an institutionalized societal discourse shapes the meanings attached to DM, and discuss the power effects of this intertwining. For the burgeoning research on diversity management, the Finnish case illuminates how a gender egalitarian context affects the inclusion of certain manifestations of diversity (and its management), while excluding others.

If you're like most people, your new year's resolutions have suddenly transformed into new year's delusions.
It's easy to understand why. Winnipeg's mid-February windchill has a tendency to put a clamp in the best-laid plans to get to the gym. Even in the warmest climates, most people end up throwing their good new year's intentions to the curb.
