Fort Garry Ladies Pony Club est. 1907 is looking to the Winnipeg community to help us fill in some gaps in our clubs local history. After a terrible fire in 1972 that took much of our archive we are hoping that former members of our long-standing social club will have squirreled away photo's, memorabilia, and/or any ephemera that might further elaborate on our club and its long and generous history here on the Manitoba prairie. We are working toward an exhibition that will coincide with the Manitoba Homecoming festivities next year. Send photo's etc. to: Peter Roy, 5th floor, 290 McDermot Ave., Wpg., MB, R3B 0T2.

Some 30 per cent of new HIV transmission is a result of injection drug use, which Canada continues to treat as a criminal issue, rather than an issue of public health. This law enforcement approach has proved ineffective in addressing HIV and other harms of unsafe drug use. In the United States, mandatory minimum sentences for drug offences have increased, not reduced, the risk of HIV and hepatitis C among people who use drugs. Nevertheless, some politicians in this country now want to follow suit. Have the health ministers asked Canada's justice ministers to consider the impact of mandatory-sentencing policies on public health? And will the health ministers comment on the growing body of evidence on the effectiveness of safer injection facilities like Vancouver's as a response to drug ...
