Letter writers Murray Theunissen (Israel a bully nation, Jan. 30) and Bob Gowenlock (A flawed democracy, Jan. 30) have written simplistic, anti-Israel commentaries on the very complex relationship that Israel has with its Arab neighbours. I am a Gentile with no connection to Israel, but I am wondering why these letter writers failed to mention that most legal authorities say that Hamas in Gaza is almost certainly guilty of violating international humanitarian law by recruiting children for armed conflict, by misusing humanitarian symbols, by the use of human shields and by targeting civilians in Israel.
