That was down dramatically from the 232 new starts in January of last year, with most of the decline occurring in multi-family starts. CMHC said there were only six such starts during the month, a drop of 93.5 per cent from the 93 in January of last year.
CMHC said last month's single-family total was in line with the Winnipeg area's five-year average of 116 single starts for January.
While a decline in activity was expected, multi-family starts are notoriously volatile and care should be taken in interpreting one month of multi-family construction data," said Jeff Powell, senior market analyst for Manitoba.

Successfully implementing the change strategy is the managerial role for supply professionals. This requires making sustainability an inherent part of decision making. Interpreting the plethora of information and data surrounding sustainability and applying it to the values of the organization is the challenge. This includes adapting to the ongoing improvements in materials and production or manufacturing methods; researching leading practices; becoming subject matter experts; aligning outsourcing partners to ensure quality; quantifying the cost of carbon emissions; working with suppliers to meet ever-demanding expectations; working with NGOs to objectively progress towards common goals; not accepting the status quo; engaging with social enterprises to make a difference in the community...

Clinical institutions have embedded their claims to legitimacy in research methodologies focussed on objectivity, replication and enumerative strength ([Ann Oakley], 2000; Hubbard, 1990; [Rosser], 1990). The type of knowledge-making activities in the midwife project that did not draw on these previously validated models escaped scrutiny because they were deemed banal, but also were dismissed because the "knowledge" to be produced was unlikely to impact on the clinical field studied. Our research team of humanities scholars seemed to intensify the sense of the hospital administrations and ethics committees that this research had little legitimate connection to the clinical field to be studied. As the epistemological paradigms were viewed as illegitimate (of uncertain origin and therefore...

This research, undertaken in a high school in the United Kingdom, focuses on the views of year 8 students who were asked to reflect on their use of information literacy skills when completing an English assignment. Students completed a diary during the assignment, and a semi-structured interview was carried out with the class teacher. A grounded analysis approach was taken in analysing the student diaries and the teacher interview. Findings reveal a number of categories which illustrate the students' views of and use of information literacy skills: Using information literacy skills and techniques; Making links; Being confident; Being reflective.
