WINNIPEG packaged-ice company Arctic Glacier, which has been mired in a U.S. judicial investigation possibly regarding price fixing, has suspended two senior U.S.-based executives who the company said may have violated company policies.
Arctic is the second largest packaged ice company in North America. In March 2008, the DOJ subpoenaed documents from the company in connection with an investigation into possible price fixing allegations in the U.S.
A U.S. analyst that covers the industry said the suspension of the sales and marketing executive is important and is very similar to actions taken by Arctic's industry peer, Reddy Ice.

For the past two months, Taman listened calmly as a judicial inquiry laid bare the details of the failed criminal investigation of the collision that killed his wife, Crystal, in 2005. He got to look into the eyes of the police who botched the investigation, and the off-duty officers who were out drinking with Derek Harvey-Zenk in the hours before his truck hit Crystal's. [Robert Taman] even met the gaze of Harvey-Zenk himself.
Crystal Taman's parents, [Sveinn Sveinson] and Victoria Sveinson, also spoke with reporters. The Sveinsons had occupied a second table on the opposite side of the hearing room from the Tamans, the legacy of a familial dispute that erupted in the wake of Crystal's death and Harvey-Zenk's prosecution.
