WHITE TEA. You've probably heard of the benefits of green tea and even black tea. Now scientists have turned their attention to white tea -- a mild-tasting and light-coloured tea that is made from the young, unfermented buds of the Camellia sinensis plant (the same plant from which green, black and oolong teas are derived). Because white tea buds are steamed immediately after harvest, they contain higher concentrations of catechins -- antioxidant plant chemicals that have numerous health benefits.
