We've got our drawings done and we're ready to go," said Terracon spokesman Norbert Hansch. "But it all depends on what the market's like, because right now it's very quiet. Everybody's kind of just waiting for the (global) economy to pick up again.
"There are a whole bunch of developers floating around looking to score medical centres (in the area)," [Martin McGarry] said. "The whole health-care gambit is lacking in the southwest."
"There's zero inventory of vacant land to buy. The developers own it all," he said. "So they'll likely have to lease (space)."

The Nisga'a people have passed a law that would allow them to own reserve property. It means Nisga'a citizens will be able to own their own homes and mortgage the property, or lease or sell it to anyone. Property rights are taken for granted in Canada, but they are a foreign concept on the country's 600 reserves, which hold land collectively. It means everyone owns the land and the property on it. Unfortunately, when everyone owns a home, no one really owns it.

Malaysia held the ninth Sarawak state election on May 20, 2006. It has invited various issues such as native customary rights land development, fuel hike and Chief Minister successor issue. Barisan Nasional won 62 of the 71 seats. The result was seen as a shock because BN failed to maintain the big mandate given from the previous election which was 60 of the 62 seats contested. The minority Conservative government's policy document includes a statement that says it will offer "Western grain farmers freedom to make their own marketing and transportation decisions. Western grain farmers should be able to participate voluntarily in the Canadian Wheat Board.
The pro-board forces argue that under an open market, the CWB would be just like any other grain company -- except that it wouldn't own elevators or export terminals and would, in fact, have to lease space from the major grain companies that would be its competitors for farmers' grain.

Landlords, and particularly commercial landlords, spend millions of dollars each year in Canada to help locate, secure and maintain viable, paying tenants. But, attracting good tenants is more than just offering a good building for them to lease. Some of the basic pitfalls that can lead to liability include: 1. conflict of interest, 2. failure of process, and 3. chairman can also be liable in negligence. There are many considerations that appraisers should keep in mind before becoming involved in commercial lease disputes, ...

As they look for the best ways to balance fuel efficiency and financial effectiveness, the people who manage Alberta's fleet of vehicles insist on accountability. Alberta Infrastructure now handles the fleets; an independent study has determined leasing would cost the same as purchasing once financing costs are included. The bonus is a newer, fuel-efficient fleet. Each department determines its own light vehicle needs, and chooses a lease two to four years long with a maximum of 140,000 kilometres. Infrastructure negotiates the resulting 1,800 leases for their sedans, mini vans, half- and three-quarter ton pick-up trucks and vans. Users now pay the finance charges, but warranties save them repair costs. To ensure the best deal, Infrastructure keeps one eye on fuel efficiency/financial e...
