Among the most provocatively beautiful properties is the Jalousie Plantation, once the site of an 18th-century sugar-mill estate. The place (formerly a Hilton) is perched in the Valley of the Pitons, and is being treated to a lavish multimillion-dollar reno. Set amidst more than 130 hectares of glossy rain forest, villas painted cheerful shades of conch-shell pink and periwinkle look like the time shares of some resident tooth fairies. Each pastel pile is surrounded with a green tangle of soursop, mango and breadfruit trees and is landscaped with its own miniature splash pool, spoiling visitors with photogenic views of the looming Pitons and Eden Bay beyond.
