It would be hard to deny that Disney has worked its customary magic with its major foray into China -- the Hong Kong theme park -- and this would bode well for its prospects elsewhere in the country. The park blends Disney's brand of apple pie Americana with local flavour, including Asian menus in the restaurants and parade songs sung in Chinese. It is spotlessly clean, efficient and fun. Despite its pint size (at only 300 acres it is the smallest of the Disney parks) it still exudes a contagious happiness from the moment you board the special train with mouse-shaped windows that takes you there. In a town known for its surly customer service and manic pace of life, Disney is probably the only place in Hong Kong where everyone is smiling.
Some pundits say Disney has been outmaneuvered i...

Mind you, it's possible he may not have noticed. When The Boy is thinking about cars or soccer or double-bacon cheeseburgers, he wouldn't notice a dead water buffalo or supermodel lying on the mat at the front door. I envy his ability to stay "focused" and "tune out" needless distractions.
I'm guessing it's THIS!!!" he squealed with obvious delight as he held up the charred corpse of (surprise!) a mouse, which had apparently found a warm, if not safe, home on top of my car's engine .
Now, I'm not an automotive expert, but I am reasonably confident that car engines are not a natural environment for mice. They also should not be lounging around, dead or otherwise, on the mat at my front door. So I'm getting kind of worried. Especially because there's a strange smell coming from the toa...

Despite its crown as the world's best-loved family tourism and shopping destination -- it's also home to the Florida Mall on Orange Blossom Trail, one of America's largest single-storey shopping havens -- the city has a surprising number of marvellous museums. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art is a stellar example; it holds the world's largest collection of exquisite Tiffany glass, jewelry and pottery. Annually in early December, the museum's nine lead-glass Tiffany windows are lit up as a backdrop to a concert by the famed Bach Festival Choir. Also worth a visit is the Cornell Fine Arts Museum; it's free and has one of the finest art collections in the state.
If you don't get enough razzle-dazzle during the day, treat your family to the Pirate's Dinner Adventure (piratesd...

The fact is, for the first two months of this year, Canada saw more per-capita job losses than the U.S. This, despite Prime Minister Stephen Harper's repeated assurances that we're in a relatively strong economic position - not having experienced either a subprime mortgage fiasco or any bank failures. According to Pastrick, U.S. exports account for 12 to 15 per cent of the national GDP, whereas in this country, it's 35 to 40 per cent.

[Jennifer Porter] began thinking about Disney -- the man and the corporation he founded -- after discussing the Chronicles of Narnia in one of her courses. The interest took off at Disney World when she discovered Star Wars-Disney crossover fans debating whether Disney toys like Mickey Mouse dressed as a Jedi knight should be considered canonical -- as officially part of the Star Wars universe.
At the same time, there has been a change in Disney films and theme parks since the death of Disney himself (in 1966), and one of the things that's interesting to explore is how religions and the supernatural and morality might have shifted from the time of Walt Disney himself to more recent Disney entertainment products," she said.
"Would it bring more people to his theme park?" she said, laug...

There are very, very few selective molecules out there like this," Vivek Rangnekar, professor of radiation medicine in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, said in a statement.
"If you look at the pain that cancer patients go through, not just from the disease, but also from the treatment -- it's excruciating," Rangnekar said. "If you can not only treat the cancer, but also not harm the patient, that's a major breakthrough. That's happening with these animals.
"The mouse itself does not express a large number of copies of this gene, but the pups do, and then their pups start expressing the gene," Rangnekar said.
