Canfor Corp. (TSX:CFP) moved to trim production at three of its mills and cut about 60 jobs on Thursday due to poor markets and a strike at CN Rail (TSX:CNR), the company said. MONTREAL -- Canadian National Railway Co. (TSX:CNR) said Thursday that the United Transportation Union has refused an offer from CN's chief executive Hunter Harrison to resume contract talks Monday in return for an immediate return to work by striking conductors and yard-service employees. The maker of Hershey's Kisses, Reese's peanut butter cups and Mounds bars currently employs about 13,000 workers, so the planned cuts would amount to 11.5 per cent of its workforce.
