I don't know why there is no confidence on Air Canada's part that the morning flight they had to Hawaii would not fill up, but the action is clearly part of the larger picture North American airlines seem to be painting in the face of what they see as a crisis caused by escalating fuel prices.
I believe there will be tremendous bargains for us in Hawaii this winter. Americans are in the throes of a recession that is reining in the distance they are considering travelling for their vacations. Cruise ships have curtailed some of their Hawaiian ports of call and Aloha Airlines' bankruptcy has reduced inter-island travel options.

For the frame, mix equal parts latex paint and water-based glazing liquid. The glazing liquid will make the paint translucent, allowing the base colour to shine through. This adds shading and depth. Measure and tape off a border around the screen and a stripe across the centre, as shown in the photo. Always use low-tack painter's tape so you won't disturb the base coat when you remove it. To create a striae effect, apply the coloured glaze to the border with a foam brush, moving in one direction -- vertically down the sides, horizontally along the top and centre. Next, drag a paint brush through the wet glaze, producing fine lines. Remove the tape immediately, pulling carefully toward the wet glaze. To give the border more dimension, paint a thin shadow line along the inside top and on...

Low-tack painter's tape is used to block areas that you don't want painted. If the surface is bumpy it is difficult to get good adhesion. When painting stripes, tape along the boundary lines, pressing down firmly along the edges. Don't overload the paintbrush or roller; using a thin coat, apply the paint up and down overlapping the tape and moving away from it toward the centre of the stripe. Build up the colour with two thin coats rather than one thick coat to avoid leaks. Remove the tape carefully while the paint is still wet, pulling it off toward the fresh paint. A few touch-ups are inevitable.
You can paint over laminate and shiny surfaces as long as you prepare properly first. This is great news for outdated or dark basements, but the paneling must be prepared properly for paint. ...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some people like art because it's beautiful while others like it for bragging rights. 'That's an original Group of 7 on my wall,'" he says.
"It takes a level of sensitivity. Most people don't really look at art. I'm amazed people will spend an hour in front of a television with their eyes glued to the set, but they won't look at a painting, regardless of whether it's good or bad, and give it five minutes of their own time. Open your eyes and look," he says.
Jim Lawton, president of Lawton Partners, a Winnipeg-based wealth management firm, says investing in art isn't for everyone. Because there is limited liquidity with an art purchase -- there isn't a ready market for buying and selling on a day-to-day basis as there is with stocks and bonds -- Law...

After you finish painting with washable latex paint, wash your brushes and apply hair conditioner to the ends. Wipe off excess with a paper towel. Bristles will feel as soft as your hair. Tip: Speaking of hair. For smoother hair add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to your regular shampoo and shake (the bottle not yourself).
Coat cutlets with breadcrumbs 1-2 hours before frying. Store in the refrigerator until ready to fry. Use the palms of your hands to press breadcrumbs into the meat. The breadcrumbs will remain in place and result in a crispy coating.
Stop mildew from forming on wooden utensils, save the "Silica Gel -- Do Not Eat" packages that come in shoes boxes and pop them into kitchen drawers or storage boxes. The Silica packages will absorb moisture and stop mildew.
