"This culture doesn't deal very well with death at all," he said, noting he thinks it's weird to put make-up on dead bodies. "They like to clean it up and pretend it didn't happen. (But) death is messy.
Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba executive director Jan Mulder said this year's conference is focusing on teaching families how to deal with a loved one's death, and hopes [ROBERT Munsch]'s speech will inspire more people to talk openly about it.
