They approach you, and you're naive, and you say "Sure! -- not knowing what's involved," [Nina Notaro] says with a laugh. "Everything was in my carry-on," she says. "My cakes were in there, the dishes were in there. I kept carrying my bag flat to keep everything upright and people kept saying, 'You know that bag has wheels and you can just roll it!' "As an individual competitor, you don't have a coach. You have to dig down deep," she says. "It's just you. It's just your creation. You have to go with your gut, don't second-guess yourself. If it looks good to you and it's the best you can do -- you go with it."
