ON Nov. 1, 2007, the Manitoba Registered Retirement Savings Protection Act will take effect. The result will be that registered accounts, like RRSPs and RRIFs, will be protected from creditors as long as the money remains in the plan. The new rule also applies to deferred profit-sharing plans. It applies equally to all such registered plans that were set up before the law takes effect and are already in place.
