Some purists, however, howled in dismay when the first batch of purple-only s arrived. This aluminum-bodied concoction was a fake and a phony, they decried. A real hot rodder wouldn't be seen in such an off-the shelf pretend-mobile. A real hot rod contains the blood sweat and tears of someone who has toiled for countless hours building the real thing and spent every last dime on parts and materials. A real hot rod is a very personal statement of automotive artistry and not some mass-produced forgery. A real hot rod doesn't come with factory warranty. And a real hot rod is always powered by a raucous V8 and never, ever by a meagre off-the-shelf V6.
What buyers got for their money was a retro-shaped roadster that came fully equipped with modern-day conveniences. Air conditioning, l...

The dispute arose just days after Manitobans celebrated their founding father with the relatively new February holiday named after him when the MPs discovered Edmonton East Conservative MP Peter Goldring had penned a four-page missive on [Louis Riel]. The newsletter says Riel was a "villain who caused 80 to die" and calls attempts to exonerate him akin to condoning anarchy. "Riel clearly chose to lead; he also clearly chose to incite uprisings that caused many to die," wrote Goldring. "As the leader of these uprisings, Riel is responsible for each and every death occurring as a consequence of his actions.
The Prime Minister's Office backed up [Shelly Glover] and [Rod Bruinooge]. "This document is absolutely not, in any way, an initiative of our government or our party," said PMO spokes...

Many businesses only have the option of suing in small claims court but this act lets the repair shop make a direct claim to the vehicle through a lien. If 1 the vehicle owner signs the invoice to acknowledge the debt and 2 before releasing the vehicle or within 15 days after release, the garage registers a financing statement in the Personal Property Security Registry (a gimongous Winnipeg computer).

Disgraced Olympic sprinter [Ben Johnson] plans to sue his former lawyer's estate for $37 million, alleging that Edward Futerman took advantage of his "diminished mental capacities" in "an arrogant, high-handed and negligent conduct.
The statement claims that Futerman "negligently acted for his own and (Azan's) personal financial gain by ensuring that Ben did not have an experienced family member to assist Ben and oversee all of his matters."
None of the allegations in either statement of claim have been proven in court. Futerman's lawyer Michael Kestenberg told the Toronto Star on Thursday that Futerman's estate and insurers "will be fighting this vehemently. They do not believe there is any truth to any of the allegations."

We knew before he was coming back," said Steve Stricker, one of [Tiger WOODS]' favourite players on tour. "Now, we're not sure when he's coming back. But this sounds good. I hope everything works out for him.
"His priorities are where they need to be, and we will continue to respect and honour his family's request for privacy," PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said in a statement, the tour's first public comment since Woods mentioned his "personal failings" and "transgressions" in a Dec. 2 statement. "We look forward to Tiger's return to the PGA Tour when he determines the time is right for him."
"The entirety of someone's life is more important than just a professional career," [Mark Steinberg] said in an email to the AP. "What matters most is a young family that is trying to cope w...

The group had initially sought $1.75 million when it filed an "oppression remedy" in the spring of 2006. They alleged [David Wolinsky] and Ataliotis "unfairly" disregarded the interests of shareholders by failing to inform them of major business decisions, failing to seek their approval for transactions and using the company to pay for personal expenses.
[Max Feierstein] said a separate statement of claim from essentially the same investors against the Astra Credit Union is working its way through the courts. They alleged the credit union, which merged with Assiniboine Credit Union in the summer of 2006, participated in a "cheque-kiting" scheme that allowed Maple Leaf and [Protos] to access millions of dollars in unauthorized loans. They claim Astra was obligated to implement "appropria...

The team said it would do "what's right" in response to [Brett Favre]'s request, which was first reported by ESPN.
As with all Packers greats, Brett's legacy will always be celebrated by our fans and the organization, regardless of any change in his personal intentions," the statement said. "Brett and Deanna will always be a part of the Packers family.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Friday that sources close to Favre and the team told him agent James (Bus) Cook asked the Packers for Favre's release in a letter because the Packers were not receptive to the idea of Favre wanting to play again.

A goal may start out with a statement like, "I wish I did not owe so much money; I am so tired of making monthly payments and feeling like I am getting nowhere.
That leads to the plan of action. If the debts total $24,000, then the principal payments must be $1,000 per month, plus whatever interest charges apply. How do you free up $1,000 per month from your spending plan? (Some people call this a "budget".)
Don't forget about Rise Again 2009: The Red Cross Manitoba Flood Relief Concert for flood victims, May 13 at the MTS Centre. This is, of course, organized by Tom Jackson and features Tom Cochrane and a huge list of other great musicians.

This has led to the suspension of some executives, effective immediately," it said in a brief statement. [Diez] resigned "for personal reasons," it said.
