A couple of years back, E and [J Gallo] found themselves in the midst of some controversy that has just recently been resolved. Gallo wanted more Pinot Noir to sell under their Red Bicyclette label -- a winery in France that they own -- in the wake of the grape's surging popularity (thanks in part to the movie Sideways). So they contacted a co-operative called Sieur D'Arques to help them get the juice they needed. Sieur D'Arques didn't have enough quantity, and turned to French merchant Ducasse to help them out. The fact that Gallo unknowingly bought the blend wasn't the only problem -- in addition to cutting the Pinot Noir with wine from other grapes, the guilty parties overcharged Gallo for what they were buying. • Equal-Opportunity Beer Brewed Around the World

The difference between wine and beer's breadth of production around the world comes down to climate. Wine grapes can thrive only in regions mild enough for the vines to survive the winter. Beer's main ingredients -- barley, hops, yeast and water -- can be cultivated in areas where vines would never make it through the winter. Manitoba, for example. This Lithuanian beer is somewhat cloudy when poured into the glass, with the distinct colour of apple juice. It's considered a Dortmunder, a pale lager, and has a nose of honey, flower petals, and lemon zest. Mild sweetness pervades on the palate, which is heavier than either of the previous beers. • Party Time in Toronto

Most people go up to the main observation deck, located 1,336 feet above the ground, and many of them make a big deal out of standing on the six-centimeter thick glass floor on the one side, a view that is sure to turn some stomachs. (It also attracts more than its fair share of idiots who think it's a good idea to jump as high as they can and stamp down as hard as possible on the glass.) But what few people know is that the entire deck has the same glass floor, it's just that it's covered up with carpet in the rest of observation area. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Niagara Falls and Rochester, N.Y. Once you've gorged yourself on gyros, spanakopita, roti and Volcanic Ass hot sauce, you're going to need a few frosty cold beverages to wash it all down, so head over to Toronto...
